Join a club and go to a taster day
Motorsport UK says the best way to start is to join a club and attend a taster day. It points to the British Motorsport Marshals Club (BMMC), the British Rally Marshals Club (BRMC), the Scottish Motorsport Marshals Club (SMMC) and the BARC, or your local motor club.

Do the online accreditation course
Log in to the Motorsport UK member portal (new members register for a login) and complete the Registered Marshal Accreditation Course in the Learning Hub. If you can't do it online, your club can arrange a face-to-face training day.

Register as a marshal
After the course, confirm your details and upload a photo in the member portal. Registration lets you volunteer at any type of event.

Tell the organising club you're new
When you sign up for an event, tell the organiser you're starting out or new to that discipline, so they can place you with experienced marshals.

Registration is renewed annually through the member portal.
What marshals do
Motorsport UK describes the job as clearing debris, managing spectators and running a start, finish line or assembly area, in the familiar orange overalls or tabard.
